The route leaves Milan on the A8/A26 towards Gravellona Toce, follows the SS33 Simplon road (European route E62) through Domodossola, crosses the Simplon Pass at 2,005 m — open all year — and descends to Brig, Visp and Täsch. The Domodossola–Brig stretch over the pass is about 64 km of proper Alpine road; on winter weekends allow up to an extra hour.

Milan to Zermatt by train — and where it falls short
There is no direct train from Milan to Zermatt. The rail route is a EuroCity from Milano Centrale to Brig or Visp, then a change onto the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn for the final climb to the village. Allow about 4 hours in total — 3h30–4h30 depending on how the connection lines up — with roughly 24 connections a day.
Fares run about €68–143 on the main route via Brig or Visp, or €45–82 if you travel via Domodossola, with advance tickets from around €40. The ride is genuinely scenic — but you change trains with every ski bag and suitcase in tow, and a missed connection means waiting for the next one.
A private transfer covers Milan to the Matterhorn Terminal in Täsch door-to-door in about 3 to 3.5 hours: one car from your hotel or the airport, your chauffeur loads the ski bags, and the price is a fixed quote agreed in advance on WhatsApp. From the terminal, the 12-minute shuttle does the rest.
Zermatt is car-free: how the last 5 km work
Zermatt is closed to private cars. Every arrival by road ends at the Matterhorn Terminal in Täsch, 5 km before the village, with 2,100 covered parking spaces and the shuttle trains of the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn.
The Zermatt Shuttle takes 12 minutes from Täsch to Zermatt, with departures every 20 minutes from 5:55 to 21:55 — then roughly hourly until 00:30–01:00, and all night at weekends. A single ticket starts at CHF 8.60, a return is CHF 17.20; children aged 6–15 and Half-Fare Card holders pay half.
With NexaRide the handover is simple: your chauffeur drops you and your luggage at the terminal, you board the next shuttle and you are in Zermatt twelve minutes later. For the return we wait for you in Täsch at the agreed time — and if you land at Malpensa, we monitor the flight and meet you in arrivals with a name sign.

Why a private transfer is the best choice for Zermatt
- ✓ Ski equipment welcome — ski and snowboard bags travel with you: the V-Class takes a whole group with full winter gear, with no train change at Brig or Visp and no station platforms to negotiate.
- ✓ Flight tracking from Malpensa — we monitor your arrival and your driver waits in the hall with a name sign; Malpensa to Täsch typically takes 2h39–3h15, door to terminal.
- ✓ A road open all year — the Simplon Pass (2,005 m) stays open year-round; your chauffeur knows the road and plans the extra margin that winter weekends demand.
- ✓ Cross-border made simple — Italy to Switzerland in one car: just carry a valid passport or ID card for the border, and we handle the rest of the journey.
