Milan to Nice private transfer,
with English-speaking chauffeur.
Nice is the capital of the French Riviera — the Promenade des Anglais, Vieux Nice, the Colline du Château, a UNESCO World Heritage town since 2021. About 315 km from Milan, roughly 3h30–3h50 by car: a private chauffeur transfer is the simplest way to get there, because there has been no direct Milan–Nice train since 2021 — by rail you always change at Ventimiglia and the trip takes 5–6 hours.

Milan to Nice by train — why there is no direct service
Many travellers search for a direct Milan to Nice train. It no longer exists: the last regular direct service, Thello, was withdrawn on 30 June 2021. FS’s seasonal tourist train, the Espresso Riviera, ran in the summers of 2024 and 2025 but is not running in 2026 — officially cancelled because of operational restrictions at the Ventimiglia border crossing.
So every rail journey now involves at least one change: an Intercity from Milano Centrale to Ventimiglia (227 km, 3h44 at the fastest), then a French TER from Ventimiglia to Nice-Ville (29 km, 47–51 minutes, roughly 14–15 trains a day). The fastest combination takes 4h59; realistically plan for 5–6 hours, with tickets from around €30.50.
A private transfer covers the whole journey door-to-door in about 3h30–3h50: one car from your Milan hotel or the airport straight to the Promenade des Anglais, no platform change at Ventimiglia, your chauffeur handles the bags, and the price is a fixed quote agreed in advance on WhatsApp. The return leg — Nice to Milan — works exactly the same way.

Nice, Cannes and the Riviera: what to know before you go
Nice has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 27 July 2021, listed as “Nice, Winter Resort Town of the Riviera”. The essentials: the Promenade des Anglais along the Baie des Anges, the baroque lanes of Vieux Nice with the Cathédrale Sainte-Réparate and the Cours Saleya market, and the Colline du Château — a 92-metre hill at the eastern end of the bay, a panoramic park with a waterfall, reached on foot or by free lift. The airport, Nice Côte d’Azur (NCE), sits 7 km west of the centre, right on the sea at the far end of the Promenade.
Cannes is about 33 km from Nice, around 30 minutes on the A8 — easy to combine in the same day. Its seafront is the Boulevard de la Croisette, home of the Palais des Festivals; between the two cities lies Antibes (about 24 km from Nice) with the exclusive Cap d’Antibes.
When to go: high season runs June to August, with the biggest crowds and hotel prices from mid-July to mid-August; May–June and September–early October are the ideal shoulder seasons. Three extra peaks to plan around: the Carnaval de Nice (11 February – 1 March 2026, theme “Vive la Reine!”, with its Flower Battles and illuminated parades), the Festival de Cannes (79th edition, 12–23 May 2026 at the Palais des Festivals) and the Monaco Grand Prix weekend.
Why a private transfer is the best choice for Nice
- ✓ No direct train since 2021 — by rail you always change at Ventimiglia and the journey typically takes 5–6 hours; a private car is door-to-door in about 3h30–3h50.
- ✓ The border, made simple — Italy and France are both in the Schengen area: carry a valid identity document for each passenger and your chauffeur takes care of the rest, in both directions.
- ✓ Airport to door — pickup at Malpensa (about 359 km, around 3h50), Linate or Bergamo with flight monitoring and Meet & Greet; drop-off at your hotel in Nice or directly at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (NCE).
- ✓ One driver for the whole Riviera — combine Nice with Cannes (~33 km, ~30 min) and Antibes (~24 km) in the same day, or continue along the coast to Monaco.
