Milan to Lake Garda private transfer,
with English-speaking chauffeur.
Lake Garda is about an hour and a half from Milan down the A4 — Sirmione with its castle and thermal spa, Desenzano, Peschiera, the Vittoriale at Gardone Riviera, Gardaland for the kids. The train is quick to the southern shore, but it stops at Desenzano and Peschiera: a private transfer takes you door-to-door, to either shore, hotel to hotel.

The route runs east on the A4 Milan–Venice motorway: exit at Desenzano or Sirmione for the Lombard shore, at Peschiera del Garda for the Veneto side and Gardaland.

Milan to Lake Garda by train — and where it falls short
Let's be honest: the train is genuinely good on this route. Frecciarossa and Italo high-speed services run from Milano Centrale to Desenzano del Garda-Sirmione in about 50 minutes and to Peschiera del Garda in about 56 minutes, with tickets from €8.90–9.90 if you book ahead; counting every operator there are roughly 35 trains a day to Desenzano and around 26 to Peschiera. Slower Trenord regionals take about 83 and 92 minutes (€10.00 and €11.50), roughly hourly.
The catch is that the stations are not the lake. Sirmione's old town sits about 10 km from Desenzano station — a bus or local taxi ride away — and the western shore (Salò, Gardone Riviera, Gargnano) has no station of its own: from the railway you continue by road. With suitcases, children or an early flight home, every change costs more than it looks.
A private transfer covers the whole journey door-to-door in about an hour and a half: one car from your Milan hotel or the airport straight to your hotel on either shore, your chauffeur handles the bags, and the price is a fixed quote agreed in advance on WhatsApp. It works in both directions — Milan to Lake Garda, or Lake Garda back to Milan and the airports.
Where we take you on Lake Garda
The lake has two shores — Lombard to the west, Veneto to the east — and one transfer from Milan serves both:
- 🏰 Sirmione — the Rocca Scaligera, a 13th-century moated castle with drawbridge, the Grotte di Catullo (the monumental remains of a 1st-century Roman villa on the tip of the peninsula) and the Aquaria Thermal SPA on the lakefront
- ⛵ Desenzano del Garda — the lively hub of the lower lake, often called the lake's capital, with the main railway station on the Milan–Venice line
- 🏛️ Peschiera del Garda — a fortified town on the Mincio whose pentagonal Venetian walls have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2017
- 🌴 Salò and Gardone Riviera — the elegant western riviera; Gardone is home to the Vittoriale degli Italiani, Gabriele d'Annunzio's hillside estate-museum with the ship Puglia set into the hill
- 🍷 Bardolino and Lazise — on the Veneto shore: Bardolino is the village behind the DOC wine and its vineyard hills; Lazise is one of the few Garda towns with its medieval walls fully preserved, watched over by the Scaliger castle
Gardaland with kids: door to door, no changes
Gardaland, at Castelnuovo del Garda on the Veneto shore, is Italy's most visited theme park — around 3 million visitors a year. The 2026 season runs from 28 March to 1 November, plus Halloween weekends and Magic Winter dates. From Milan it's about 138–145 km, roughly 1h30 by car (longer on summer weekends); the A4 exit is Peschiera del Garda and the park sits just a few kilometres from the motorway.
By train you reach Peschiera del Garda station, about 2 km from the park, then take Gardaland's free shuttle, every 30 minutes on park opening days. It works — it just isn't door-to-door. With a private transfer the chauffeur collects the whole family at your Milan hotel, or at Malpensa, Linate or Bergamo arrivals, and drops you at the park: child seats on request, pushchairs and bags in the boot.

Why a private transfer is the best choice for Lake Garda
- ✓ Both shores, one car — the railway serves only Desenzano and Peschiera on the southern shore; Sirmione's old town, Salò, Gardone Riviera and Gargnano all need a final leg by road. A private transfer goes straight to your hotel.
- ✓ Sirmione without the parking stress — entry to the old town is a ZTL reserved for residents, hotel guests and suppliers, and in summer the centre is fully pedestrianised from early afternoon until the evening; day visitors leave their cars in the car parks outside the village. With a chauffeur you are simply dropped at the edge of the old town.
- ✓ Direct airport pickups — Bergamo Orio al Serio is about 85 km from Sirmione, around 55 minutes by car (1h–1h15 in summer), against roughly 2 hours by bus to Desenzano plus a local connection. We also collect at Malpensa and Linate, with flight monitoring and Meet & Greet.
- ✓ Summer weekends, handled — lakeside roads get busy in July and August and the usual advice is to leave early or travel on a weekday; your chauffeur picks you up at whatever hour works, even before dawn.
- ✓ Full-day chauffeur — combine Sirmione with the Vittoriale at Gardone Riviera, or the wine villages of Bardolino and Lazise, with the same driver.
