Distances and times from Bergamo Airport

From Orio al Serio you take the A4 towards Venice: the whole southern shore sits between 75 and 95 km away. For Salò and the Brescia riviera you exit at Brescia and follow the western-shore road; for Limone and the upper lake you continue along the Gardesana Occidentale. Summer weekends add time.

Orio al Serio is Lake Garda's natural airport — less than half the distance of Malpensa. If your low-cost flight lands here, a private transfer gets you to your hotel before the bus has left the forecourt: your driver follows the landing in real time and the first hour of waiting from actual touchdown is included.

From the airport to the lake: bus or private transfer?

Public transport from Orio al Serio means the coach to Desenzano. Sirmione needs a second local bus; Salò, Gardone Riviera and Limone need more changes still. Here is the honest comparison.

The coach works if you travel light to Desenzano town. With luggage, kids or a hotel in Sirmione, Salò or Limone the maths changes: waits, connections and a last leg to solve. A private transfer does the same trip in one go — your driver meets you at arrivals with a name sign and drops you at the hotel.

Where we take you on Lake Garda

The lake has two shores — Lombard to the west, Veneto to the east — and one transfer from Bergamo Airport serves both:

  • 🏰 Sirmione — the Rocca Scaligera, a 13th-century moated castle with drawbridge, the Grotte di Catullo (the monumental remains of a 1st-century Roman villa on the tip of the peninsula) and the Aquaria Thermal SPA on the lakefront
  • Desenzano del Garda — the lively hub of the lower lake, often called the lake's capital, with the main railway station on the Milan–Venice line
  • 🏛️ Peschiera del Garda — a fortified town on the Mincio whose pentagonal Venetian walls have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2017
  • 🌴 Salò and Gardone Riviera — the elegant western riviera; Gardone is home to the Vittoriale degli Italiani, Gabriele d'Annunzio's hillside estate-museum with the ship Puglia set into the hill
  • 🍷 Bardolino and Lazise — on the Veneto shore: Bardolino is the village behind the DOC wine and its vineyard hills; Lazise is one of the few Garda towns with its medieval walls fully preserved, watched over by the Scaliger castle
🍋

Limone sul Garda

The lemon-house village on the upper Brescia shore, reached along the Gardesana Occidentale

Riva del Garda

The lake's northern tip, in Trentino: steady winds, sailing and windsurfing, mountains straight into the water

Gardaland with kids: door to door, no changes

Gardaland, at Castelnuovo del Garda on the Veneto shore, is Italy's most visited theme park — around 3 million visitors a year. The 2026 season runs from 28 March to 1 November, plus Halloween weekends and Magic Winter dates. From Milan it's about 138–145 km, roughly 1h30 by car (longer on summer weekends); the A4 exit is Peschiera del Garda and the park sits just a few kilometres from the motorway.

By train you reach Peschiera del Garda station, about 2 km from the park, then take Gardaland's free shuttle, every 30 minutes on park opening days. It works — it just isn't door-to-door. With a private transfer the chauffeur collects the whole family at your Milan hotel, or at Malpensa, Linate or Bergamo arrivals, and drops you at the park: child seats on request, pushchairs and bags in the boot.

Hotels we serve on Lake Garda

We work with the lake's grand hotels and resorts, with Meet & Greet at the airport and drop-off at reception:

  • 🏛️ Villa Cortine Palace — Sirmione, Relais & Châteaux 5-star in a late-19th-century neoclassical villa with private park and jetty
  • 🏛️ Grand Hotel Terme Sirmione — lakefront 5-star beside the Scaliger castle, with thermal-water pools
  • 🏛️ Grand Hotel Fasano — Gardone Riviera, Leading Hotels of the World, a former Austrian royal hunting lodge with lakeside park and spa
  • 🏛️ Lefay Resort & SPA Lago di Garda — Gargnano, eco-luxury resort overlooking the Riviera dei Limoni
  • 🏛️ Grand Hotel a Villa Feltrinelli — Gargnano, an 1892 villa on the western shore with a two-Michelin-star restaurant

Why a private transfer is the best choice for Lake Garda

  • Both shores, one car — the railway serves only Desenzano and Peschiera on the southern shore; Sirmione's old town, Salò, Gardone Riviera and Gargnano all need a final leg by road. A private transfer goes straight to your hotel.
  • Sirmione without the parking stress — entry to the old town is a ZTL reserved for residents, hotel guests and suppliers, and in summer the centre is fully pedestrianised from early afternoon until the evening; day visitors leave their cars in the car parks outside the village. With a chauffeur you are simply dropped at the edge of the old town.
  • Direct airport pickups — Bergamo Orio al Serio is about 85 km from Sirmione, around 55 minutes by car (1h–1h15 in summer), against roughly 2 hours by bus to Desenzano plus a local connection. We also collect at Malpensa and Linate, with flight monitoring and Meet & Greet.
  • Summer weekends, handled — lakeside roads get busy in July and August and the usual advice is to leave early or travel on a weekday; your chauffeur picks you up at whatever hour works, even before dawn.
  • Full-day chauffeur — combine Sirmione with the Vittoriale at Gardone Riviera, or the wine villages of Bardolino and Lazise, with the same driver.

FAQ

How long does it take from Bergamo Airport to Lake Garda?+
The southern shore is close: Desenzano del Garda ~50 minutes (~75-80 km on the A4), Sirmione ~55 minutes (~85 km), Peschiera and Gardaland about an hour. Allow ~1h for Salò on the Brescia riviera and ~1h35-1h50 for Limone sul Garda along the Gardesana Occidentale. Summer weekends add time.
Will the driver wait if my flight is late?+
Yes. Your flight is tracked in real time: if it is delayed, pickup adjusts at no extra cost. The first hour of waiting from actual landing is included, and your driver meets you at arrivals with a name sign.
Is there a bus from Bergamo Airport to Lake Garda?+
Yes — the Autostradale coach links Orio al Serio to Desenzano in about 120 minutes (€15.50, 12 departures a day); for Sirmione you then need the local LN026 bus (10-12 minutes). There is no direct link to Salò, Gardone Riviera or Limone: changes are required. A private transfer reaches any town on the lake in a single door-to-door ride.
Do you also cover Limone sul Garda and the upper lake?+
Yes: Limone sul Garda (~1h35-1h50), Riva del Garda and every town on both shores. In summer the Gardesana Occidentale gets congested — your driver manages the route and timing while you watch the lake.
How much is a transfer from Bergamo Airport to Lake Garda?+
The price depends on the exact destination, vehicle, time and number of passengers. Message us on WhatsApp with your flight, date and destination: within 2-5 minutes you get a fixed quote agreed in writing that does not change with traffic.
What if I land at Malpensa or Linate?+
We also cover Malpensa and Linate to Lake Garda — from Malpensa the southern shore is about 1h40-2h away. Just mention your arrival airport in the WhatsApp message and you get a quote for your route.
